The auriculate Partula

Partula auriculata

This species had a dstincively auriculate or 'ear-shaped' opening to the shell. This shape is pressent in many partulids but is most pronounced in this species. They were found in the north of Raiatea island, with the northernmost populations described as 'Partula robusta'. This species became extinct shortly after the island was invaded by Euglandian in the late 1980s.
