The toothed Partula

Partula dentifera

This was one of the most widespread Partula species on Raiatea, with several different supbseices (callifera, candida, cedista, citrina, formosa, imperforata). Each subspecies differed in shape, but most subspecies show a very strongly toothed aperture. They had all disappeared by the time conservationists first visited the island in 1991. "Partula dentifera" collected in 1991 and 1992 and being bred in zoos today are actually Partula navigatoria.
