The vinous Partula

Partula labrusca

This species was restricted to the Temehani plateau, high on Raiatea island. There it was found in small pockets of vegetation. In 1992 a small number of anaimsl were found and brought to London Zoo. Shortly afterwards Euglandina invaded the area and all Partula were lost. Partula labrusca only survived in captitivy until 1995, it is now extinct.
